The Adventure Begins

After 34 years working as a Project Manager in the Semiconductor Industry, I’m about to make a huge career change! It appears God is calling (or nudging) me toward full time ministry in Zambia Africa. In July, I will be traveling to the small town of Mansa to oversee and manage an AIDS Orphan Center sponsored by AFNET.  My duties will include tutoring the children, training volunteers, teaching the older orphans job skills, and generally provide these dear children with hope for a future and love in Christ. Oh, throw in a little cooking meals for the orphans, cleaning bathrooms, keeping the water well pump running and odd handy man jobs.

OK, I know what you are thinking, why am I leaving a comfy life in Santa Cruz,  my home, my family and friends, and a wonderful church… to go to the far side of the world where everything on the ground wants to bite you or sting you or eat you?  Well, the answer is lengthy but I’ll give you the short version: Ever since I attended Bible College (40 years ago), I have wanted to serve full time for the kingdom. But sometimes God often sends you in a different direction to learn and mature and prepare you.  And then all of a sudden, God brings you back to the original dream. So, here I am, kids are grown and on their own and doors have been opening to Africa. I went on a short term mission trip to the very same place in 2011 and fell deeply in love with the children and people of Zambia. I came back from Zambia with a desire to do more and so I’m taking that leap of faith. Much more to follow...
